It took less then 24h after the iPad release before “MuscleNerd” who is known for jailbreaking the iPhone, released a video on YouTube where he successfully had ported the “Spirit” iPhone jailbreak to work on the iPad. In the video he demonstrates how he can run unsigned code. The development of a user friendly app for doing the jailbreak is not ready yet but according to “MuscleNerd”, he and a few other iPhone jailbreakers are working on it and it shouldn’t take long.
This means that iPad owners who jailbreak their iPad will be able to run any Apps on there iPad including those not accepted in to Appstore and Apps not downloaded directly though Appstore.
No official sales numbers has been release by Apple yet. But according to Gene Munster, analyst at Piper Jaffray. Apple will have sold no less then 700 000 iPads on the first day of sale. Around 200 000 of these are expected to be pre-orders made on Apple.com.
700 000 sold units in one day is a lot and it indicates that the iPad will be a great success.
For you who have been looking at the $20 000 Diamond iPad but can´t afford it. Here is a “cheaper” alternative. CrystalRoc has announced on there blog that the will be selling a Swarowski Crystal coated iPad for just $2250. For that price you get a 32GB iPad covered in 6000 crystals. It will undoubtedly make your friends jealous but for $18 000 less then the Diamond version. CrystalRoc will start selling this special iPad by the end of April.
Mervis Diamond Importers have announced that they will be selling a limited edition, diamond covered iPad for $19,999. The diamond iPad will be covered in 11.43 carats of diamonds and will go on sale on June 1. Which version of the iPad that will be used has not yet been announced but we would be dissapointed if it is not the top end version with WiFi and 3G.
Apple has announced that the official release date of the iPad will be on the third of april in the US. It was also announced that it will be released to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK at the end of April.
The iPad will be able to be pre-ordered for US customers via Apple.com at the end of next week.
